What up, Celebration Parents?!!
Just a note to let you know we linked a few new resources into the Parent Connect Online:
“Good and Angry”: I tend to require my kids to do exactly what I say, when I say it. No, I’m not a drill sargent, but sometimes at home I would sound like one! This book helped Carrie and I to learn how to discipline with a cool head, clear mind, and NEVER out of anger. Turansky and Miller have an awesome Biblical insight into effective parenting!
National Center for Biblical Parenting: This one may look a little cheesy at first, but if you dig deeper, you’ll find awesome resources and answers to your questions! Support groups, curriculum, Q&A… it’s all there.
“Boundaries with Teens”: This one is recommended by Pastor Willie and Lisa Johnson, from Celebration Kids. They have two awesome boys, one in college, one in high school. The principles outlined in this book have helped them navigate the trials of establishing disciplinary routines.
“For Bad Attitudes”:The Bible challenges kids with this task: honor and obey your mom and dad. This book, “Say goodbye to whining…”, again by Turansky and Miller, will help you develop honor in your kids!
Anger Management: This is a great website with phone numbers for support, analysis tests, and solutions to anger issues. Tons of our teens struggle with anger over the trauma they may have experienced through divorce or loss of a loved one.
